Hello, My name is Dr. Janice Samuel-Powell. I have been an early childhood and special educator for over 20 years. I have extensive training in curriculum, assessments, coaching, ABA, counseling and teaching. I am someone who believes that the early years in a child's development are the most important. Therefore, I am committed to ensuring that the needs of children and families are addressed and met.

The YMCA program mission statement aligns with my beliefs that we must develop our youth, promote healthy living and teach social responsibility continually in order for each and every child to reach their fullest potential. By working together, we can close the achievement gap and ensure academic and social success for every student which in turn, will enable them to be productive citizens.

The YMCA understands that early childhood education can fundamentally change the course of a child’s life and a proper education can positively benefit the child, their family, and their community. The YMCA also strongly believes in the pillars of Social Responsibility, Healthy Living, and Youth Development as well as Christian values like Honesty, Respect, and Love. Our curriculum is not only supported and enriched by these values but it also includes more broad educational elements not found in a typical public preschools. Through our well-trained staff, motivated students, and dedicated parents all working together, we can ensure academic and social success for every student for their present and future.
